Imagine biking through vineyards for two days, meeting winemakers and relaxing in the evenings at a 4* hotel with spa.

Biking ~ Winery Visits ~ Outdoor BBQ
(3 days, 3 nights)

Imagine biking through vineyards, meeting winemakers and relaxing in the evenings at a 4* hotel with spa.

Your three-day escape will take you to the heartland of Castilla-Leon and one of Spain’s finest wine regions, Ribera del Duero known for their powerfully elegant wines and roasted lamb.

This itinerary can be customized should you wish to spend more time biking or visiting wineries. Simply let us know how we can accommodate you by sending us your group size and requests.

Day 1: Introduction to Ribera del Duero
After checking in to hotel, we head to the Castillo de Peñafiel where we will visit the castle and have an introductory tasting class on the wines of Ribera del Duero.
Afterwards, you’ll enjoy lunch at one the best restaurants in the region savoring local specialties such as roasted lamb. Before heading back to the hotel, we have our first winery visit in Peñafiel and after savoring some of the finest wines of the region, we return to the hotel for the evening to enjoy their spa and rest up for tomorrow’s bike ride.

Day 2: Biking through the vineyards of Ribera del Duero
You’ll spend the day biking approximately 15 Km stopping off along the way to visit two wineries and a break for lunch.
Return to the hotel in the late afternoon to enjoy a relaxing evening.

Day 3A: Guided visit to historical towns with BBQ in nature park reserve
Today you get to explore the heartland of the region visiting historical towns of Covarrubias and Santo Domingo de Silos (Gregorian chants) and stop off along the way for a private visit of a boutique winery to taste the wines with the owner/winemaker.
After visiting some of the villages and learning more about the region, you get to enjoy some fresh air while BBQ lunch is prepared and served with local wines as a farewell lunch.
We return to hotel after lunch and

Day 3B: Optional, should your group prefer to spend the day biking.
This day will be similar in to day 2, approximately 15 – 20 km visiting two wineries and stopping for lunch.

Biking ~ Winery Visits ~ Cooking Class & Wine Pairing
Customizable (3 days, 2 nights)

 

Escape for a few days to the mountainous region of Ronda to explore the area by bike and learn how to prepare a four-course meal with award-winning cookbook author and taste wines with the owners/winemakers during a private visit of the wineries.

This itinerary can be customized to include more cooking classes or biking, for example.

Day 1: Biking in the Countryside of Ronda
Your hosts greet you at the luxury country home in the outskirts of Ronda, where you’ll be staying for the next few days.

Afternoon: our bike guides meet us to get fitted for bikes and start off on our 25 KM-journey for the afternoon biking through the countryside of Ronda. Depending on the level of experience and preferred difficulty there are several routes from which to choose.

Evening:
After working up an appetite, we head to the historical quarter of Ronda for a tasting menu paired with local wines on the restaurant’s terrace facing the beautiful Tajo gorge.

Return home for the evening.

Day 2: Winery Visit and Cooking Class

Morning: enjoy a private-guided winery visit and wine tasting with winemaker and/or winery owner.

Afternoon: Prepare a four-course meal with award-winning chef and cookbook author, Teresa Barrenechea. Local wines will be paired with each course.

After lunch, we head to the nearby villages such as Setenil de las Bodegas or the Roman ruins in Acinipo to explore the interior part of Andalucia.

Evening: enjoy dinner on your own in Arriate, just a 20 minute walk from the private home of Teresa and Raynold.

Day 3: Cave Visit, Winery Visit and Farewell Lunch
Morning: visit the “Cuevas de la Pileta”, pre-historic caves in nearby Benaojan.

Afternoon: Winery visit and wine tasting with owner and/or winemaker.

After the winery visit with spectacular views of Ronda, we have lunch at one the local restaurants before departing for home.

Alternatives:
Should you wish to spend the day biking and end the day at the winery or have another cooking class with Teresa that too can be arranged if you’d like.

Unique Sailing Experience in Galicia

Food, Wine and Sailing to enhance your experience

Experience Galicia like the “Gallegos” sailing along the coast and the estuaries “Rias” hence the name of the D.O. Rias Baixas. We’ve included a few options of sailing, visiting wineries and taking a cooking class. Depending on your interests and perhaps the number of days of sailing you wish to experience, we’d be happy to customize your visit.

Rias Baixas Visit (4 nights, 5 days)

Day 1: Vigo

  • Pick up at airport and transfer to hotel downtown Vigo.
  • Winery visit in O Rosal followed by lunch at the winery
  • Visit Celtic settlement “Santa Tecla”.

Day 2: Vigo

  • Morning free to explore Vigo.
  • Learn to prepare some of the local dishes with a private cooking class later to be enjoyed at lunch pairing each dish with local wines.
  • Evening visit to downtown historic quarter of Vigo

Day 3: Sailboat ride from Bouzas to Cambados (weather permitted)

  • Transfer to hotel in Cambados.
  • Sailboat ride with light lunch on board to Cambados.
  • Check in to the Parador where you’ll spend the night in a 17th C mansion “Pazo Bazan”.
  • Dinner on your own

Day 4: Cambados

  • After breakfast, visit one of the oldest wineries of the region and have lunch.
  • Free-time to visit Cambados

Day 5: Transfer to airport (52 km)

Sailing the Coast (5 days, 4 nights)

  • Transfer from airport to hotel
  • Visit downtown Vigo
  • One night on sailboat
  • Sail to the “Ria de Arausa” known for its seafood and Islas Cies for the beach (3 days)
  • Explore O Salnes and O Rosal sub-zones of D.O. Rias Baixas
  • Learn how to prepare local dishes in cooking class

Day 1: Vigo and O Rosal (100 km)

  • Transfer to hotel in Vigo (NH Palacio de Vigo)
  • Winery visit in O Rosal sub-zone of D.O. Rias Baixas
  • Stroll through historic quarter of Vigo

Day 2: Sailing the “Rias”

  • Transfer to sailboat harbor to sail the Ría de Arausa, known for its seafood and history as the smuggler’s paradise.
  • Light lunch on board
  • Exploring regions of Salnes sub-zone of D.O. Rias Baixas with a winery visit
  • Sleep on boat

Day 3: Sail back to Vigo

  • Morning sail back to Vigo
  • Cooking class followed by lunch with dishes paired with local wines
  • Sleep on boat

Day 4: Sail to Islas Cies

  • Morning sail to Islas Cies off the coast of Baiona and Vigo
  • Lunch on the island
  • Sail back at leisure
  • Hang out on boat for last night

Day 5: Transfer to airport
